Legend holds that the young St. Ivan Rilski lived here before founding Rila Monastery. Every year on the saint's feast day, 27 July, believers from across southwest Bulgaria gather here.

A Revival-era church built in 1897 at the foot of Belasitsa mountain. A three-nave pseudo-basilica with an outer gallery on the west and south sides. The interior was completed in 1910. The frescoes, coffered ceiling ornaments and painted iconostasis with carved royal doors are of exceptional artistic value. Prayers for children are believed to be especially powerful here – many couples seeking a blessing for conception come on pilgrimage.

A cemetery church in the village of Zlatolist, built in 1857 as a three-nave stone pseudo-basilica set deep into the ground. In the early 20th century Stoina the Nun – a clairvoyant and healer considered a predecessor of Baba Vanga – lived here. Beneath the church dome lies a marble slab with a double-headed eagle on which pilgrims step barefoot to pray for health.
